How to Sign a PDF on Your Phone

Someone emailed you a PDF to sign and you're nowhere near a printer — here's how to sign it with your thumb, right from your phone's browser.

You don't need a dedicated app to sign a PDF on your phone. A mobile browser can do it, using your finger to draw a signature the same way you'd sign a delivery driver's screen.

    Open the PDF on your phone

    If it's an email attachment, use your phone's share/open-in menu to open it in your browser, or save it first and upload it to the tool from there.

    Find the spot and tap the Signature tool

    The mobile layout puts the tools in a bottom bar — tap Signature (or Initials, if the document needs those on multiple pages).

    Draw your signature with your finger

    A drawing pad opens where you can sign with your finger or a stylus. If your handwriting doesn't translate well to a touchscreen, use the Type tab instead and pick a handwriting-style font.

    Save it for next time, or use it once

    If you'll be signing more documents later, save the signature to your phone so it's ready instantly. Otherwise use it just this once — either way it's stored only on your device, never uploaded.

    Place it and download

    Drag the signature into position with your finger, resize it if needed, then download the signed PDF — it'll save to your phone like any other download.

Rotate your phone

For a wide document or a small signature line, turning your phone to landscape gives you more room to draw accurately.
